Wordpress Wordcamp India Delhi 2009 @ 21 and 22 Feb - A Perspective From Abhishek Bhatnagar

February 23rd, 2009 by admin

We blog, we tweet and with time make many friends online and then there comes a great event like the first ever wordcamp in india ( a wordpress camp ) which opens the way to meet all those people and friends online on various media like, blogs, twitter, friendfeed, facebook etc.

So, the first impression of wordpress for me was and event where I will get to meet lot of my fellow bloggers, online marketers and some of followers from twitter and facebook friends. This was the first ever wordcamp happening in india just because of some great people like mayank, twilight fairy and sanjay who took the initiative for arranging and managing it.

Mayank and me are friends from a long time, I asked him to make some contribution from my end to wordcampindia and he allowed me to collect payment from people for the event, later we made some of the registrations for some people at the end time who forgot to register but booked their flight tickets for the event :P  I also got involved in some other tasks related to wordcamp india after that.

First Day 21 Feb, There were some very amazing sessions on the first day of wordcampindia including the awesome session by Matt on “State of the word” after attending this amazing session on wordpress by matt my perspective started changing and I started thinking about wordpress and matt.

I realized the importance of wordpress in my online life, it was wordpress which gave me some amazing functionality when I switched from blogger to wordpress and self hosted domain to host my blogs and sites. With time these blogs and websites in my small blog network increased and never costed me on the hosting software as free wordpress was there which helped me to launch these sites with some working interface at the user end with in minutes.

After I came home from wordcamp india first day I was so much impressed by wordpress and matt that I converted my hp tx1000 laptop into a wordpress laptop

Second Day 22 Feb, Till the second day came I was converted into a FAN of Matt Mullenweg after listening all his journey with wordpress, as far as the sessions are concerned the session of Pavan Duggal was the best. We all tried to have as many snaps with Matt, Om and Amit Aggarwal it was quite troubeling for them actually which I figured out, but we were quite exicited about our snaps with them. I hope they understand our excitement.

Another pic of amit aggarwal with me added in my collection this is the 4th pic, looks like I am over smiling.

I had two discussions with Matt, one was on the frequent wordpress updates releases and other was about a highly suggested feature from my side about on simplifying the image upload process in wordpress easier. Matt answered to both of these questions very clearly.

Finally Matt helped me converting my apple iphone into a wordpress iphone by putting a wordpress sticker at the back of my iphone 3g.

Enough, I am not good at writing posts like this one which does not relate to computer tips and tricks or computer troubleshooting which are my most interested topics of writing. If you want to see more pics of wordcampindia check out my flickr photoset for wordcamp here or search for wordcamp keyword at flickr.
